American Diabetes Association’s Tour de Cure: John Thomas Edition
by Nick Salyers on Feb.27, 2010, under Charity
So my buddy/coworker/all around good guy Mr. John William Thomas is riding in the Birmingham edition of the Tour de Cure on May 22, 2010. The Tour de Cure is a series of fundraising cycling events held in 43 states nationwide to benefit the American Diabetes Association. John, whose father suffers from diabetes, is obviously very passionate about this particular cause, and he wants you to help.
He will be riding in the Birmingham, Alabama edition, which is a multi-tiered event, with distances of “family 10K, the quick 25K, the rider favorite 50K, or the more challenging metric or full 100 mile century.” John is a badass of epic proportions, so he will be riding in the full 100 mile race [citation needed]. He has already amassed donations equaling $175, 58% of his $300 goal. Birmingham, as a whole, has raised $15,386.25, only 18% of it’s $84,000 goal.
“So,” you may ask. “What can I do to help? I’m lazy, have no bicycle, don’t live in Birmingham, and have an extra $20 burning a hole in my pocket!” Good news, everyone! You can donate right now to John’s individual fund. There are three ways to donate.
You can donate online at John’s Tour de Cure page.
You can snail mail the organizer herself (be sure to include John’s name!):
