The soon to be homeless UAH Charger hockey team beat the Niagara Purple Eagles 3-2 on an overtime power play goal to secure both the final College Hockey America conference championship and an autobid into the NCAA hockey tournament. After trading goals throughout the game, including a waived goal for both teams, UAH capitalized quickly on an early power play to put the Purps out for good and further their case for inclusion in a conference for the 2011-2012 season.

Well, Canada’s won the gold. Both teams played hard as hell, and the game could have gone either way. This time, Canada comes out on top. Congrats to them on the Gold and to the Americans for the Silver, and a special congrats goes out to Ryan Miller, who’s named the tournament MVP, and definitely deserved it. Don’t worry Canada, we’ll be back in four years. Don’t you worry one bit…
