Don't mistake my rant for being any kind of indication that I would do anything less than what I claim we shouldn't do if they decided to picket a family member or friend's funeral. I would probably go just as crazy on these people as anyone else, but either way, it's the only way we as a society can "win" the right to no longer have people like this making a bad name for the rest of humanity.

I guess people will do anything to make a buck. They may not be insane religious whackjobs, but anybody who would do some of the things they do is not right in the head. But here I am doing exactly what you said not to do. You're right, if everybody would just realize that they're not worth anybody's time or effort and ignore them, they'd probably go away. The problem is, I'd imagine it's pretty tough to ignore a group of people standing at your loved one's funeral holding signs about how God hates them, and they're burning in hell. Which, like you said, is exactly why these nutjobs are around.
