Darpa, the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, has partitioned off $6 million of it’s budget for 2010 for a project called BioDesign, whose purpose is to eliminate the “randomness of of natural evolutionary advancement” by genetically engineering and breeding organisms that “produce the intended biological effect.”

So in my CompSci class today, we’re doing, drumroll please, Photoshop. And what does the UAB CIS Department bestow upon us as an example? This atrocity.

Yup. That. Now, the website-friendly version doesn’t do it justice, so make sure to click on it to get a full view. Notice the clone stamp rampage? The multi-axis background. The weird shit in the wheels. The lack of a balance in color, contrast, and lighting. It’s terrible. That’s the example we’re given of photoshop work. Now, we are then tasked with making our own version. This is what I came up with in about ten minutes.

Now, this isn’t perfect, but it’s a whole hell of a lot better than that bullshit up there.
